While we are gathering funding for Welstand Village, we are focusing on projects that help build capacity in the community by partnering with institutions and community groups.
Below are just a few of the projects we are working on now in 2020 & 2021.

2020 Census
New Mexico has a small population of people of African descent, that fact makes it even more important to ensure we are accurately counted.
When advocating for funding specifically for our community we are called statistically insignificant because only 2.6 of the population, in New Mexico, identifies as Black. WHAT?!
I translate that as Black Lives DON’T matter and from that day on we vowed to fight to ensure we are accurately counted and represented.

COVID-19 Relief
THANK YOU to the City of Albuquerque for the amazing grant funding of $15,000. This funding will provide relief to families in the Black community that are suffering from food insecurities AND will help Black owned restaurants at the same time.
The ENTIRE $15,000 will go to the community. We will purchase 300 gift cards in the amount of $50, from some of our favorite Black owned restaurants. CLICK HERE TO RECIEVE A GIFT CARD.
Frank’s Famous Chicken & Waffles
The Hot Mess, Food for the Soul

Home Ownership Program
We are excited to be partnering with local experts to develop a comprehensive program to promote Black home ownership.
Steps include attending 9 hours of education providing the knowledge necessary to purchase a home. Next participants will get a free Financial Needs Analysis to determine exactly how much they can afford. Then we match you up with a mortgage specialist and realtor to find the home of your budget, not your dreams. One step at time 🙂
